PDC Announces VerbalDoc – Text to Speech Technology For Memory Card Users

VerbalDoc is an enhanced version of PDCÂs Vmail technology which was announced in June of 2004. Text to speech transformed data are to be stored in memory cards which can be played back in mobile devices. System requirements to enable the VerbalDoc software are as below:
-Intel Pentium or AMD processor
-Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4/ Windows XP Professional Edition or Home Edition/ Windows XP Tablet PC Edition
-For Outlook Add-in ( MS Outlook 2000/XP/2003)
-350MB of HD space
-Language Edition Available: English, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified)
According to Gen Shueh, Chief Strategy Officer of PDC, ÂPDCÂs VerbalDoc is planned to be provided into the market with a free memory card in the sales kit. Considering the devices which use the memory card are compact in size and require low battery consumption, the MultiMediCard will be the perfect form of memory medium to be bundled with VerbalDoc. MultiMediaCards are compact in size, fast in transfer speed, durable, and use little power to help save battery life for prolonged device use. Major devices including mobile handphones in the market today are compatible with the MultiMediaCard technology, and thus making the MultiMediaCard the choice of memory card selections.Â
According to Nelson Terng, S.A. of President of PDC, ÂVerbalDoc is an application that can be bring value add to the busy user. With use of the memory card, effects of VerbalDoc are enhanced as it is no longer in-house or in-office driven. Users are free to bring their contents with them to enjoy text contents by just hearing it. Imagine how much time and eye-strains are saved if the whole series of Harry Potter or Lord of the Ring Triology can be just heard? PDC will build on VerbalDoc by releasing other language versions of the technology, and at the same time, bring value added applications to the memory cards.Â
